Tax Revaluation for Mecklenburg County

Mecklenburg Tax assessors are in the process of a revaluation on property values.  As of October 2018, 73% of total neighborhoods in Mecklenburg County have been completed.  Revaluation is a process in which all property within a Mecklenburg County is revalued to its current market value as of an established date. The date of the countywide revaluation is established by the Board of County Commissioners, and the preparation required by the Mecklenburg County Assessor’s Office begins well before that date.  The Mecklenburg County Assessor’s office appraises all real property (land, buildings and other improvements to land) as of that established date.

The last property value assessment in Mecklenburg county was in 2011.  Home values have increased significantly in our area since 2011! The average Mecklenburg county homeowner will see a 40 percent or more increase of their home value.  A higher home value will translate into higher tax liability. The notice of value will be mailed in mid – January. The tax bill for Fiscal year 2020 will be mailed in July.

Residents are encouraged to visit MeckReval.com to look up their property, learn more about the process, and detailed information about appeals.
